How/Why:
Pinellas County Detectives are investigating an apparent accidental shooting in Pasadena. At approximately 10:42 P.M., deputies responded to a suspicious incident call at the intersection of Pasadena Avenue S. and Park Street in Pasadena.

According to Pinellas County Detectives the victim, Mareth C. Reum, was seen by a citizen being placed into the back seat of a 2012 Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck by a male subject, Logan D. McClain, at the intersection of Pasadena Avenue South and Park Street in Pasadena.  A description of the vehicle was given out in reference to the suspicious circumstances. Detectives later learned that in response to the BOLO, the vehicle was stopped by St. Petersburg police at 5756 Central Avenue in St Petersburg.  Pinellas County deputies responded to this location.

Detectives say Logan McClain, who is employed as a Tampa Firefighter and Paramedic, was a passenger in their 2012 Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck.  McClain and Reum were near their residence when McClain went to retrieve his hand gun from the center console. The hand gun was reported to have accidentally discharged striking his fiancé, Mareth Reum, in the right thigh area while she was driving. McClain  assessed the injury, rendered aid and placed Reum in the back seat of the vehicle, electing to transport Reum to Bayfront Hospital. Detectives say the couple was stopped by St. Petersburg police prior to their arrival at the hospital.

The victim, Mareth Reum, was transported to Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg by ambulance for non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives say McClain has a valid concealed carry permit and foul play does not appear to be a factor.

The investigation continues.
