What:
Detectives assigned to the Arson and Auto Theft Unit are conducting an investigation into a residential fire in Lealman.

When:
Deputies responded to the fire at about 4:25 a.m. on November 21, 2014.

Where:
Deputies responded to the fire at 3715 57th Avenue North in St. Petersburg.

Why/How:
According to investigators, a neighbor observed sparking and glowing on the east side of the residence and immediately started knocking on the door and woke the residents. Deputies say the five people inside the residence were able to exit safely. One person was treated for smoke inhalation and released at the scene.

Deputies say there were also pets inside the residence; two dogs and two cats. All pets exited safely.

Lealman Fire personnel responded.

Detectives assigned to the Sheriff's Arson and Auto Theft Unit responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.

Detective say the fire appears to have begun on the porch located on the east side of the home.

The investigation continues.
