Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Special Victims Unit have arrested a man for Possession of Child Pornography and Failure to Register as a Sexual Offender.

According to detectives, their investigation began on January 27, 2015 after receiving a tip that the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Eric Manuel Antunes, was in possession of child pornography.

Antunes was previously convicted in 2013 for Possession of Child Pornography after being arrested by the Clearwater Police Department.

A search warrant was obtained by detectives and served at Antunes’ residence on Thursday, May 14, 2015.

During the execution of the search warrant, detectives took possession of multiple electronic devices belonging to the suspect.

At this time, the investigation has revealed that Antunes was in possession of over 60 images depicting child pornography.

Through various investigative techniques it was also discovered that Antunes possessed various email addresses and had not registered those emails with the Sexual Predator Offender Tracking Unit per his sex offender status requirements.

Antunes was arrested for 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography and 2 counts of Failure to Register as a Sexual Offender.

Antunes was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.
