The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office in partnership with the State Attorney’s Office, Public Defender’s Office, 6th Judicial Circuit Judges and the Clerk of the Courts will host the operation. On this day, individuals with non-violent misdemeanor warrants who were notified via mail out notifications will be encouraged to turn themselves in and resolve their warrants.

In lieu of being arrested, those individuals with warrants meeting the criteria established by the State Attorney’s Office will have their cases reviewed and potentially resolved either by a case continuance, monetary fine and/or case dismissal.

This operation is a one-day event and is not an amnesty program, but will offer favorable considerations from the Court. Individuals who do not meet the established warrants’ criteria will be handled accordingly depending on the nature of the case.

Previous Safe Surrender day events have brought in as many as 114 individuals processed, 138 warrants purged and $6,864.50 collected in fines, court costs and restitution. In addition, prior to the event, individuals have also turned themselves in after they were mailed the postcard notification. No physical arrests were made at the previous event.

Individuals with inquiries regarding the warrants may contact Sergeant Bryan Bingham of the Violent Offender Warrant Unit at 727-582-6149.
