Why/How:
Pinellas deputies have arrested a Largo High School student after he displayed a BB gun on a school bus while he was on his way home from school.

According to deputies, a Pinellas County School District, school bus driver was transporting students’ home from school on the bus when she observed one student holding what she believed was a black colored handgun.  The bus driver immediately called 911 and pulled the bus off to the side of the roadway.

The bus driver confronted the male student who was identified as, 15-year-old Logan Burton. Deputies say that the bus driver requested that Burton hand her the gun and he complied with the bus driver’s request.

When deputies arrived on scene they determined that the handgun was actually a BB gun. Through various interviews with witnesses, deputies located a second BB gun that was found on the bus in a separate student’s backpack.

The suspect never threatened anyone with the BB gun and no one was injured as a result.

Burton was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Possession of a BB Gun Under the Age of 16.

Burton was transported to the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center.

The investigation continues.
