What:

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is participating in Operation Pill Drop, a Florida Sheriffs Association collaboration, to provide citizens safe, convenient, and responsible means of drug disposal.

When:

In Pinellas County, the operation will be held from Monday, October 17, 2016 to Saturday, November 12, 2016.

Where:

Drop-off locations will vary each week in addition to those available year round.

How/Why:

The majority of prescription drug abusers report in surveys they got their drugs from friends' and families' medicine cabinets, drawers, and bedside tables, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Throughout the next few weeks, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is participating in several prescription drug take-back events to provide citizens safe, convenient, and responsible means of drug disposal.

During Operation Pill Drop, a Florida Sheriffs Association collaboration, Monday, October 17, 2016 through Saturday, November 12, 2016, the Sheriff's Office is setting up prescription drug drop-off stations at different locations each week in addition to those available year round.

The first week of the operation runs from October 17, 2016 to October 21, 2016. Weekly updates with the drop-off locations will be provided. Bring in your expired, unused, or unwanted prescriptions to the following locations:

October 17 - 21
6:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Walmart - 35404 US Highway 19 North, Palm Harbor
Walgreens - 6560 Ulmerton Road, Largo
