Where:

Why/How:
According to investigators, 57-year-old Scott Malham was driving a 2017 Hyundai Elantra with his mother, Nelda Malham, in the front passenger seat.

Investigators said that Scott was traveling northbound on Patricia Avenue. While in the intersection of Patricia Avenue and Virginia Street, Scott started to experience a medical issue. The vehicle veered off the road into the grass shoulder, striking a PSTA covered bus stop. It continued to travel and hit a support beam for a carport at 821 Patricia Avenue at the Heather Lake Condominiums.

Investigators said both the bus stop and carport sustained significant damage.

Scott was transported to Mease Dunedin Hospital with life-threatening injuries and is currently in critical condition. Nelda was also transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injury and was released.

Speed and impairment are not factors in this case.

The investigation continues.
