What:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a Clearwater man after he video recorded a 16-year-old girl taking a shower without her knowledge.

When:
The incident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on March 31, 2017.

The suspect was arrested at about 11 a.m. on May 12, 2017.

Where:
The incident occurred at a residence located at 1601 Lakeview Road, in unincorporated Clearwater.

How/Why:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a Clearwater man after he video recorded a 16-year-old girl taking a shower without her knowledge.

According to detectives, their investigation began on May 10, 2017, after the mother of the 16-year-old female victim called the Sheriff’s Office to report the incident.

Detectives say that on March 31, 2017, at about 5:30 a.m., the 16-year-old female victim was taking a shower at a residence located at 1601 Lakeview Road, in unincorporated Clearwater. At the time of the incident, the victim was residing at the residence with her mother, and her mother’s live-in boyfriend, 38-year-old Jon Flower.

While in the shower, the victim saw Flower secretly video recording her through a crack in the door with his cellular phone. The victim screamed for help and the victim’s mother confronted Flower. Detectives say the mother recovered a video from Flower’s phone of the victim in the shower unclothed.

The mother removed the victim from the home immediately after the incident but waited several weeks to notify the authorities.

During the investigation, the victim told detectives that she caught Flower video recording her in the shower once prior back in 2016. This incident was not reported to the authorities. 

At about 11 a.m. on May 12, 2017, detectives interviewed Flower at the Sheriff’s Administration Building located at 10750 Ulmerton Road in Largo.   

Flower was arrested without incident and was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

Flower was charged with one count of Video Voyeurism.

The investigation continues.
