The victim is a 44-year-old female, who is known to the suspect. Per Florida Statute §415.107(1) no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victim.

What:
Detectives have arrested the owner of an assisted living facility in unincorporated St Petersburg for sexual battery and false imprisonment of a 44-year-old employee.

When:
The suspect was arrested at approximately 3:00 pm on May 25, 2017.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 pm on May 22, 2017.

Where:
The incident occurred at the Osprey Assistant Living Facility 6775 40th Avenue North St. Petersburg.

Why/How:
Detectives have arrested the owner of an assisted living facility in unincorporated St Petersburg for sexual battery and false imprisonment of a 44-year-old female employee.

Detectives say 73-year-old Enrique De La Piedra is the owner of the Osprey Assistant Living Facility 6775 40th Avenue North St. Petersburg. The victim reported De La Piedra asked her to come into his office and speak with him.  Detectives say the victim entered the office to speak with De La Piedra when he abruptly locked the office door behind her.  De La Piedra then hugged the victim who immediately attempted to get away from De La Piedra, who then sexually assaulted her. The victim reported she resisted De La Piedra’s unwanted sexual contact and told him no several times. The victim stated she was able to escape from De La Piedra and exit the office.

Detectives say the victim immediately reported the incident to other employees and deputies were later notified. The victim was not physically injured in the incident.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives were able to verify the victim’s account.

De La Piedra agreed to come to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Administration Building. The suspect admitted to locking the door in the office and having sexual contact with the victim. He told detectives the sexual contact was consensual.

De La Piedra was arrested for sexual battery and false imprisonment and transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
