What:
Deputies assigned to the Judicial Operations Bureau have arrested a woman for child neglect after she left her one year old son unattended in a vehicle at the Pinellas County Justice Center in Clearwater.

When:
The incident occurred at about 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017.

Where:
The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Pinellas County Justice Center courthouse located at 14250 49th Street North, in unincorporated Clearwater.

Why/How:
At about 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017, deputies at the Pinellas County Justice Center courthouse were notified by a courthouse employee that there was a young child left unattended, inside a vehicle parked in the courthouse parking lot.

When deputies located the vehicle, they found a one-year-old child sleeping inside the locked car with the windows rolled up, the engine running, and the air conditioning on.

Deputies say one of the vehicle vent windows was missing, and was covered in tape. Deputies easily made entry into the vehicle through the missing window and recovered the child.

The child was found in good medical condition.

The child’s mother, 28-year-old Antwynett Lane, returned to the vehicle shortly afterward. Lane admitted to deputies she intentionally left the child in the vehicle because she was running late. Deputies say that Lane was visiting the courthouse to pay a ticket.

Deputies estimate the child was left unattended for approximately 15 minutes.

Deputies arrested Lane and transported her to the Pinellas County Jail.

Lane was charged with one count of Child Neglect.
