Charges: One count of lewd and lascivious battery of elderly/disabled adult and one count of felony battery. 

The victim is a 64-year-old disabled woman. Per Florida Statute 119.071(h)1.b., no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victim.

What:
Pinellas deputies arrested a registered sexual offender after he inappropriately touched a 64-year-old disabled woman in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

The incident occurred at an undisclosed residence in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

When:
The incident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on July 15, 2017.

Why/How:
Pinellas deputies arrested a registered sexual offender after he inappropriately touched a 64-year-old disabled woman in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Deputies were called to the victim’s residence in unincorporated St. Petersburg at about 6:03 a.m. on July 15, 2017.

According to deputies, the victim was sitting in a chair outside her home when a black male subject who was not known to her, approached and offered her money to have sex with him.  The victim declined and told the man to leave multiple times. The man refused to leave and started advancing towards the victim.

Deputies say the victim was in fear for her safety and she retreated into her home where her three grandchildren were sleeping. While searching for a weapon to defend herself with, the subject walked up to the front door of the victim’s home. The victim exited her residence to confront the subject when the man forcefully grabbed the victim’s breasts. The victim punched the subject in the head and screamed for help, causing the subject to flee the scene.

The victim received minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene. 

Deputies searching the area located 34-year-old Jacques Fields walking a short distance from the victim’s home. Deputies say Fields fit the suspect description provided by the victim, and gave conflicting statements about his whereabouts. The victim later identified Fields as the suspect.

Deputies also determined that Fields was listed as a registered sexual offender resulting from a 2005 sexual battery conviction.  

Deputies arrested Fields and transported him to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.

Fields was charged with one count of lewd and lascivious battery of elderly/disabled adult and one count of felony battery.  

The investigation continues.
