Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) are investigating a two vehicle crash in Clearwater.

According to investigators, on June 21, 2018 at approximately 10:42 p.m., Deputy Justin Gould was on-duty and traveling northbound on Missouri Avenue in his unmarked 2010 Dodge Avenger.

Investigators say, 23-year-old Miranda Clark, was driving her 2013 Chevrolet Spark, westbound on Santa Rosa Street, approaching Missouri Avenue. Clark stopped at the stop sign at Santa Rosa Street and Missouri Avenue, then proceeded to turn southbound onto Missouri Avenue, pulling in front of Deputy Gould’s vehicle. The front of Deputy Gould’s agency vehicle struck the front driver’s side of Clark’s vehicle.  

Clark was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated as a precautionary measure. 

Deputy Gould was not injured or transported to the hospital.

Clark was cited for Failure to Yield.

Investigators do not believe impairment or speed were factors in this crash.

The investigation continues.
