Homicides, crimes against children, robbery, arson, auto theft, fraud, exploitation and burglary are among the many categories of crime investigated by detectives with the Investigative Operations Bureau. Pinellas Sheriff’s narcotics detectives have also formed partnerships with other state and federal agencies to investigate the manufacture, sale and smuggling of illegal drugs. The Intelligence section tracks criminal behavior and trends, while the burglary and pawn division follows up on property crimes.
The mission of the S.P.O.T. (Sexual Predator and Offender Tracking Unit) is to be proactive and aggressive in regards to monitoring, tracking and enforcing Florida State Statues that relate to registered sexual predators and sexual offenders.
Victim Advocates work with crime victims of all ages by offering information and assistance to those victims as their case travels through the criminal justice system.
Bailiff deputies with the Court Security Division maintain order and decorum in any of the five county courthouses where they are assigned.
Child Protection Investigators perform the important function of determining whether a child is safe in his or her home, and will take action to make sure the child is removed to safe surroundings.
The Youth Services Section gives young offenders options to turn their lives around.
