Course Content: This two-day training program is designed to teach officers survival skills when conducting activities on, in or around bodies of water. Waterproofing ensures that officers who are working in a water environment have the necessary skills to protect themselves and others. All officers will find themselves working around water area at some point in their career and must recognize there is a potential for being immersed in that environment. They need to have the skills and confidence to survive and win. This course will give you a detailed insight into the potential for water immersion and cover important life-saving information including:

Rescue techniques
•
Movement in the water
•
Treading water and breathing control
•
Waterproofing techniques for the officer
•
Self-defense tactics while in the water
•
Handgun and impact weapon deployment and control
•
Defensive positioning, strikes and kicks
•
Redirection, evasion and escapes
•
Handgun retention and shooting from the water
•
Understanding the ballistics of shooting while in or under water
Who should attend: Any certified law enforcement officer with basic swimming skills. This course is not limited to boat patrol officers and or marine units. This training is a must for ALL law enforcement officers.
All exercises will be conducted in full duty dress and gear: T- shirt, pants (BDU) with a swimsuit underneath, shoes and swim goggles will be required. Bring lunch, plenty of water or sports beverages and a change of clothes. Ballistic vests, training guns and web gear will be provided at training.
