What: The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Pinellas Park Police Department, the St. Petersburg Police Department and the Gulfport Police Department, is hosting the 3rd Annual Multi-jurisdictional Police Explorer Academy. The Academy will provide training in areas of communications, ethics, weapons familiarization and much more.
When: Registration is currently open and taking place through May 30, 2015.
The Academy will be held during a two week period. Week 1: July 7,8, 9 and Week 2: July 14, 15, 16, 17. Graduation will be held July 17, 2015.
Where: Various Locations.
Why/How: The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Pinellas Park Police Department, the St. Petersburg Police Department and the Gulfport Police Department, is hosting the 3rd Annual Multi-jurisdictional Police Explorer Academy.
The Academy will provide training in areas of:
- Criminal Investigations - Ethics - Weapons Familiarization - Building Searches - Traffic Stops Training - K-9 Demonstration - Defensive Tactics - Jail Tour - Officer Survival - Homicide Investigations - Domestic Violence Investigations
The Academy is open to young men and women between the ages of 14-18 years old. They must pass a background check. They must be enrolled and attending high school in Fall of 2015.
Academy participants will need to be able to perform physical exercises. Hold harmless agreements and photo/media releases will be required for all participants.
Youth will need transportation to their respective Explore Post site for the day.
Space is limited and not all applicants will be able to attend.
