The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30 years of age, 6’4”, medium build, with short blonde hair and a light beard, wearing a white tank top and jeans, carrying a black backpack.

What:                               
Detectives assigned to the Arson/ Auto Theft Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an auto theft suspect who stole a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, and nine baby parrots.

When:
The incident occurred at about 6:45 p.m. on March 2, 2017.

Where:
The incident occurred at 520 Douglas Avenue, in Dunedin. 

How/Why:
Detectives assigned to the Arson/ Auto Theft Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an auto theft suspect who stole a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, and nine baby parrots.

At about 6:45 p.m. on March 2, 2017, the victim parked his vehicle in front of a business located at 520 Douglas Avenue, in Dunedin. The victim entered the business leaving his vehicle unlocked with nine baby parrots in the backseat and the engine running.

While inside the business the victim was notified by another customer that someone drove off in his vehicle.

Detectives say, the suspect was captured on surveillance video sitting on the patio outside of the business, prior to the theft. The suspect was then seen walking over to the victim’s vehicle and driving off.   

On March 3, 2017, the Chevrolet was recovered by Polk County Sheriff’s Office in the Lakeland area. On March 7, 2017, six of the baby parrots were recovered by the Lakeland Police Department.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30 years of age, 6’4”, medium build, with short blonde hair and a light beard, wearing a white tank top and jeans, carrying a black backpack.
