When:
The man was reported missing on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.

The man’s body was found at about 7:14 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018.

Where:
The man was reportedly last seen at the Bay Pines Sports Bar located at 9685 Bay Pines Boulevard, unincorporated St. Petersburg.

The victim’s body was found in a pond near 9768 48th Avenue North, unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Robbery/ Homicide Unit are investigating the death of a missing St. Petersburg man found floating in a residential pond.

On Tuesday, April 10, 2018, deputies received a report that 40-year-old Christopher Renner was missing. Detectives say Renner was last seen on Monday, April 9, 2018, at the Bay Pines Sports Bar located at 9685 Bay Pines Boulevard, unincorporated St. Petersburg.

A concerned family member told deputies that Renner never returned home after being at the bar and he never showed up for work the next day.

Detectives made contact with employees at the Bay Pines Sports Bar and confirmed that Renner was last seen leaving the establishment at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018.

At about 7:14 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018, deputies were called to a residence located at 9768 48th Avenue North, in unincorporated St. Petersburg, after a resident found a man’s body floating in a nearby pond.

Paramedics responded and pronounced the man deceased at about 7:21 a.m.

Detectives confirmed the body was that of Christopher Renner. Detectives say the circumstances surrounding Renner’s death do not appear suspicious. The cause and manner of Renner’s death are pending the outcome of the Medical Examiner’s autopsy.

Next of kin has been notified.

The investigation continues.
