Pinellas deputies are investigating a drowning in Palm Harbor after a man was found unresponsive in a community pool.

When:
Deputies were called to the scene at about 11:29 a.m. on Monday, September 3, 2018.

Where:
The incident occurred at the Country Place Apartments community pool located at 3975 Country Place Lane, Palm Harbor.

Why/How:
At about 11:29 a.m. on Monday, September 3, 2018, deputies were called to the Country Place Apartments community pool located at 3975 Country Place Lane, Palm Harbor, for an unresponsive male found in the community pool.

Deputies say residents from Country Place Apartments found the victim, 68-year-old Eliezer Rodriguez, submerged in the pool.  

When deputies arrived, paramedics from Palm Harbor Fire Rescue had already pulled Rodriguez out of the pool and were performing CPR on the man.

Rodriguez was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at about 11:56 a.m. on September 3, 2018.

Deputies say surveillance video from the community pool showed Rodriquez was swimming alone at approximately 11:13 a.m., when he went underwater and never resurfaced.

Deputies say the drowning appears accidental in nature.

Next of kin has been notified.

The investigation continues.
