PINELLAS COUNTY – On April 11, 2023, at approximately 11:03 p.m., deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to the area of Baypines Boulevard and Seminole Boulevard to investigate a fatal single motorcycle crash.

According to investigators, 57-year-old James Bartlett, Jr. was traveling southbound on Seminole Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he approached a left curve, and his motorcycle collided with a guardrail. Bartlett was ejected from the motorcycle.

Bartlett was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Next-of-kin was notified.

According to investigators, speed and impairment appear to be factors in the crash.

The investigation continues.
