PINELLAS COUNTY – On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, Pinellas County law enforcement agencies will run the Torch for Special Olympics through the county.

The Torch Run brings attention to the many sports programs available to the intellectually disabled. The Special Olympics Torch will be passed to various Pinellas law enforcement agencies along the way as runners carry the torch from Philippe Park in Safety Harbor to Paul B. Stephens Exceptional School, where they will be greeted with a reception by students.

The Torch Run route and departure times are listed below. The media is encouraged to attend and meet runners at any of the staging locations.

If the event is canceled due to inclement/dangerous weather, there is no rain day scheduled.

During the run, traffic may be affected for a brief period of time while law enforcement blocks roadways and stops traffic at various intersections.

Expect intermittent delays on both Enterprise Road and McMullen Booth Road during the event.

The Torch Run route is listed below.

Start:         12:15 p.m.  -   Philippe Park Shelter 5
Route:       (4 miles) Philippe Parkway to Enterprise Road, west on Enterprise Road to McMullen Booth Road, then south on McMullen Booth Road to Sunset Point Road, then west on Sunset Point Road to Paul B. Stephens School, and the finish

Finish: Around 1:15 – 1:30 p.m., Torch Arrival/student reception at Paul B. Stephens.
