Why/How:
Detective George Moffett was selected as the runner up by the 2014 Florida Retail Federation. He was honored at the awards dinner at the Saddle Brook Resort in Tampa on October 15, 2014 where he was presented with the runner up award. The Florida Retail Federation looks to support and encourage law enforcement work throughout the state and recognizes their contributions to the retail industry.

In July 2012 Detective Moffett began the investigation based on information that a subject was trafficking in stolen baby formula. The suspect was purchasing stolen formula at a lower price then re-selling the formula for a profit.

He laid the ground work for an investigation which spanned until 2014 involving multiple suspects at various locations. The investigation was turned over to FDLE and the State Wide Prosecutors office as well as several other Sheriff’s offices throughout the state.  Ultimately the investigation resulted in over 40 Conspiracy to Commit Racketeering and Dealing in Stolen property of approximately one million dollars of stolen baby formula.
