Firearms Release Procedures

1) Firearms will only be released with an appointment Monday - Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (excluding holidays).

2) Valid government issued identification must be presented to claim any firearm(s) or ammunition. 

3) Firearms which were held for evidence purposes will only be released to persons named in a court order, probate court order, with a notarized letter from the owner, or with permission from the case agent, and after successful completion of a background check.

4) Firearms which are held as “safe keeping” may be released to the owner, with an appointment, valid government issued identification, and after successful completion of a background check.

If you have lost your property, please contact the Property and Evidence Division at 727-464-6391 to determine if it has been turned in.

Unclaimed found property/unclaimed evidence

Notice of Public Auction: Pursuant to State Statute 705, The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office offers for sale to the general public, unclaimed lost/abandoned property and unclaimed evidence. 

All available property will be sold at a public auction to the highest bidder.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office uses the services of PropertyRoom.com Auction Company. Please contact them for further information regarding time of any sale or the viewing of any property.
