Armed Sexual Battery

Victim:
The victim is an adult female who is not known to the suspect. Per Fl. Statute, 119.071(2)(h)1 no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victim.

Suspect:
Black Male
Approximately Late 20s
5’7-5’8
Thin Build
Wearing all dark clothing (clothing appears lighter in pictures)
ARMED with black semi-automatic handgun

What:
Detectives are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in an armed sexual battery.

Where:
In the area of 54th Avenue North and 28th Street North, St. Petersburg.

When:
The incident occurred on Monday December 29, 2014 at 6:44AM.  

How/Why:
Detectives are reaching out to the public to help identify a suspect in an armed sexual battery. On December 29, 2014 at 6:44AM the victim was in the area of 54th Avenue North and 28th Street North, St. Petersburg, when she was approached by the suspect.

The victim tried to run but the suspect grabbed her and struck her with the hand gun causing her to fall to the ground. The suspect sexually battered and assaulted the victim. The suspect then stole her cell phone, car keys, and fled the area in the victim’s vehicle. The victim was able to get up and call 911 for assistance. She sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately late 20s, 5’7 to 5’8, thin build, wearing all dark clothing and carrying a semi-automatic handgun.

Deputies located the vehicle in the area of 55th Avenue and 25th Street in St. Petersburg at approximately 8:09AM.
