What:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are investigating a crash involving a Clearwater Police Officer in Dunedin.  

When:
The crash occurred at approximately 5:57 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2015.   

Where:
The crash occurred in the area of Skinner Blvd. and Douglas Ave. in Dunedin.   

Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are investigating a crash involving a Clearwater Police Officer.

According to deputies, Clearwater Police Officer G. Martinez was driving his marked Chevy Tahoe Eastbound on Skinner Blvd when he was struck by a 2015 VW Passat. The driver of the Passat was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Skinner when she struck the Tahoe.

Officer Martinez was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Passat, identified as 68-year-old Gail Hines, was not injured in the crash.

It does not appear that speed nor alcohol/drug impairment played a factor in the crash.

The investigation continues.
