The victim of the lewd and lascivious molestation is an 8-year-old female (was age 6 or 7 at the time of the crime) who is known to the suspect. Per Florida Statute 119.071(2)(h)1, no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victim.

Detectives assigned to the Special Victims Unit and the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a St. Petersburg man for possession of child pornography and lewd and lascivious molestation.

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, October 14, 2015

The suspect was arrested at his place of residence.

Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Special Victims Unit began their investigation on August 14, 2015 after receiving information that the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Stanley Peters, was in possession of child pornography.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives were able to recover 10 images depicting child pornography from Peters’ computer.

Peters admitted to detectives that he intentionally downloaded the images of children involved in sexual acts.

Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit joined in the investigation and through various investigative techniques further determined that Peters had exposed his sexual organ to the child victim and encouraged her to touch it .

Detectives arrested Peters for 10 counts of possession of child pornography and one-count lewd and lascivious molestation.

Peters was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

The investigation continues.
