Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a crash involving a vehicle vs. pedestrian  in Dunedin.

When:
The crash occurred at about 5:05 p.m. on Saturday May 28, 2016.

Where:
The crash occurred on Patricia Avenue just south of Admiral Road in Dunedin.

Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a crash involving a vehicle vs. pedestrian  in Dunedin.

According to investigators, ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­69-year-old Lucinda Caughey was walking westbound crossing Patricia Avenue in a marked pedestrian crosswalk just south of Admiral Road in Dunedin.

Investigators say 25-year-old Brittany Bones was driving a 2008 Honda CRV southbound on Patricia Avenue passing Admiral Road when she did not see Caughey crossing the roadway in the marked crosswalk, and struck Caughey with her vehicle.

After the initial impact, Caughey was pinned underneath Bones’ Honda CRV.   

Caughey was transported by helicopter to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said that Bones appeared to be driving the speed limit and she showed no signs of impairment.  

The investigation continues.
