When:
The crash occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.

Where:
The crash occurred near the intersection of Gulf Boulevard and 55th Avenue in St. Pete Beach.

Why/How:
According to investigators, 20-year-old Boris Buncic was driving his Honda motorcycle southbound in the median lane of Gulf Boulevard approaching the intersection of 55th Avenue. 39-year-old Diems Duverlus was driving his 2005 Chrysler northbound on Gulf Boulevard and was making a left westbound turn into the entrance of the TradeWinds Island Resort located at 5500 Gulf Boulevard.

Investigators say that Buncic’s motorcycle collided with the Chrysler 300, throwing Buncic off the motorcycle and onto the roadway. Buncic was transported to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Buncic was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Investigators say that speed may have been a factor in the crash. Impairment was not a factor.

The southbound lanes of Gulf Boulevard at 55th Avenue are now open to vehicle traffic.

The investigation continues.
