What:
The driver of a vehicle in Palm Harbor was arrested for DUI after the suspect driver was observed intoxicated at a Shell gas station.

When:
The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.

Where:
The incident occurred at the Shell gas station located at 4840 East Lake Road.

Why/How:
According to deputies, a concerned citizen called the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office to report an intoxicated driver in the parking lot of the Shell gas station at the corner of Ridgemoor Blvd. and East Lake Road.

The concerned citizen and another witness who observed Kristy Lynn Kaskie, 34, drive erratically, unable to maintain her lane followed her into the gas station where they positioned their vehicles to prevent Kaskie, from driving away.

The witnesses observed Kaskie stumble nearly falling upon exiting her vehicle to enter the store.

Upon deputies arriving, contact was made with the driver, Kaskie.

Kaskie’s two children ages four and three, were in the backseat of the vehicle.

Deputies say, Kaskie was unable to perform field sobriety tests.  Kaskie had a BrAC of .254 / .258.

Kaskie was arrested for DUI and 2 Counts of Child Abuse.  She was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

Child Protection Investigators responded and took the kids into protective custody and made the decision to place the children with a family member.

No injuries were reported.

The investigation continues.
