Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating the death of a man found floating in Boca Ciega Bay.

When: 
The body was found at about 7:38 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016.

Where:
The body was found at MarineMax boat marina, located at 6810 Gulfport Boulevard South in South Pasadena.

How/Why:
Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation where a man was found floating in the Boca Ciega Bay at the MarineMax boat marina.

According to detectives, 64-year-old Kenneth Curry was reported missing at about 6:25 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2016. St. Petersburg Police officers were informed by a family member that Curry was last seen driving his electric mobility scooter near his residence at 568 La Plaza Avenue in St. Petersburg.

The St. Petersburg Police Department notified local law enforcement agencies to be on the look-out for Curry and provided with a physical description of the missing man. Officers reported that Curry suffered from multiple medical ailments and he was not taking his prescribed medication.

On Monday, November 7, 2016, at about 7:35 a.m., deputies received a report of a body floating in the Boca Ciega Bay, near the MarineMax boat marina at 6810 Gulfport Boulevard South, in South Pasadena.

Detectives responded and confirmed the man in the water was Curry. Curry was pronounced deceased at about 7:40 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016.

Detectives say the circumstances surrounding Curry’s death do not appear suspicious.  The cause of death will be determined pending the outcome of the Medical Examiner’s autopsy.

Next of kin has been notified.

The investigation continues.
