What:
In an effort to reduce DUI related injuries and deaths, deputies will conduct a Wolf Pack operation in Pinellas County over the weekend. This operation will be dedicated to a victim from Pinellas County that died in a wrong way driver crash, attributed to impaired driving.

Where:
Deputies will monitor traffic throughout Pinellas County.

When:
The operation will begin at 7 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2016 and continue until 5 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2016. 

How/Why:
Pinellas County deputies, in conjunction with the Clearwater Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Gulfport Police Department, Indian Shores Police Department, Kenneth City Police Department, Largo Police Department, Pinellas Park Police Department, St. Petersburg Police Department, Tarpon Springs Police Department, and the Treasure Island Police Department, will conduct a DUI Wolf Pack operation. They will maintain a proactive profile over the weekend on the highly-traveled roadways of Pinellas County.

The operation will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016, and continue until 5 a.m., on Saturday, December 17, 2016.

The operation is part of the Pinellas County Sheriff's on-going commitment to reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving.  The goal of the Wolf Pack is to educate people and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.), Remove Intoxicated Drivers USA Inc. (RID), and the Suncoast Safety Council will be supporting law enforcement during the operation.

This operation will be dedicated to, 38-year-old John Sorensen, who died on January 30, 2016, after he was struck in Dunedin by a wrong way driver, while driving his motorcycle. The wrong way driver was impaired at the time of the crash.  

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office will be conducting Wolf Packs and DUI checkpoints continuously throughout the year.
