What:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a serious crash involving a car versus cement truck.

When:
The crash occurred at about 1:10 p.m. on January 5, 2017.

Where:
The crash occurred near the intersection of Seminole Boulevard and 102nd Avenue North in Seminole.

Why/How:
According to investigators, at approximately 1:10 p.m. on January 5, 2017, Jose Melendez was stopped in traffic in his 2005 Oshkosh cement truck facing southbound on Seminole Boulevard just north of 102nd Avenue in the center lane. Marion Barner was driving her 2003 Toyota Camry southbound on Seminole Boulevard in center lane. The Toyota failed to stop and collided with the rear of the Oshkosh.

Witnesses on scene pulled Marion from the Toyota and called 9-1-1. Seminole Fire Rescue and Sunstar Paramedics responded and transported Marion to Bayfront Medical Center where she is currently listed in critical condition. Jose Melendez was not injured as a result of the crash.

Investigators say that alcohol and/or drug impairment were not factors in the crash.  

The investigation continues.
