Why/How: Detectives with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Robbery/ Homicide Unit have arrested a man for felony second degree murder.
According to detectives, 24-year-old Angel Martinez and 23-year-old Larrisha Williams are in a dating relationship. On the night of the murder, Martinez, Williams, and her two children were seen parked in a vehicle next to the parking lot of 10464 106th Avenue North (Andrea Cove Motel).
An apparent argument had taken place between Martinez and Williams. Martinez was seen to have a hand gun on his lap. Detectives say that during the course of the argument, Martinez shot Garland who was in the Andrea Cove Motel parking lot. Martinez then fled the scene.
When deputies arrived, they found the victim, 47-year-old Ricky Garland, lying in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Garland was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. At 12:05 a.m. he was pronounced deceased.
Through various investigative techniques, detectives were able to locate Martinez on May 27,, 2017 at approximately 3:16 p.m. and take him into custody at the 22nd Avenue block of 19th Street South in St Petersburg without incident.
Martinez was charged with second degree murder for the death of Ricky Garland.
Martinez was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without incident. Detectives say Williams left her two young children alone in the apartment on the night of the murder. Williams was charged on May 25th 2017 for two counts of felony child neglect.

What: Robbery/Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man after he was found shot in the parking lot of the Andrea Cove Motel in unincorporated Largo.
Where: The incident occurred in the parking lot of 10464 106th Avenue North #5, (Andrea Cove Motel), unincorporated Largo.
When: The incident occurred at about 10:47 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2017.
How/Why: Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation after a man is found shot and killed.
According to detectives, at about 10:47 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2017, deputies responded to Andrea Cove Motel located at 10464 106th Avenue North in Largo, regarding a report of a shooting.
When deputies arrived, they found the victim, identified as 47-year-old Ricky Garland, lying in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Garland was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. At 12:05 a.m. he was pronounced deceased.
Detectives say witnesses observed an unknown vehicle leaving the area after the shooting.
