Pinellas deputies are encouraging bicyclists to ride safe during the month of March, designated by Governor Rick Scott as Florida Bicycle Month.   

When:
Florida Bicycle Month is observed the month of March 2018.  

Where:
Pinellas county-wide.

Why/How:
With two weeks remaining, Pinellas deputies are encouraging bicyclists to ride safe during the month of March, designated by Governor Rick Scott as Florida Bicycle Month.  

According to the Florida Department of Transportation, nearly 25 million residents and tourists participate in bicycling throughout the year.

Pinellas deputies will be conducting on-the-street high visibility education and enforcement to help bring awareness to bicycle safety. Deputies will be distributing educational materials, as well as issuing warnings and/or citations in accordance with Florida Statutes.

The purpose of the initiative is to help drive down the number of bicycle and pedestrian fatalities, injuries and crashes in Pinellas County.

Deputies will also be handing out free bicycle helmets and free bike lights to those bicyclists they come in contact with that need them.
