What:
In an effort to reduce DUI related injuries and deaths, deputies will conduct a saturation patrol in Pinellas County over the weekend. This is a continuation of FDOT Grant For DUI Enforcement awarded earlier in the year (February 3, 2018).

When:
The saturation patrol will begin at 6:00 p.m. April 20, 2018 and will continue to 5 a.m. on April 21, 2018.

Where:
The project will be implemented throughout Pinellas County, in areas known for impaired driving activity. 

Why/How:
Pinellas County deputies will conduct a saturation patrol in Pinellas County over the weekend. This is a continuation of FDOT Grant For DUI Enforcement awarded earlier in the year (February 3, 2018).

The saturation patrol will begin will begin at 6:00 p.m. April 20, 2018 and will continue to 5 a.m. on April 21, 2018. During the saturation patrols, deputies will be searching for impaired drivers, speeders, and drivers not utilizing safety belts among other traffic violations.

The operation is part of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s on-going commitment to reduce deaths, injuries and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving. The goal of the saturation patrol is to educate people and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.), the Suncoast Safety Council and Chaplain's Outreach Ministries will be supporting law enforcement during the operation.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting DUI enforcement continuously throughout the year.
