What:
Detectives assigned to the Robbery & Homicide Unit have arrested two men after they lured a family to a residence in St. Petersburg and robbed them at gun point.

When:
The crime occurred at about 8:52 p.m. on July 16, 2018.

Brown was arrested on September 4, 2018.

Walker was arrested on September 7, 2018.

Where:
The crime occurred outside a private residence located at 5003 Yellow Pine Street, unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Why/How:
According to detectives, the victims 23-year-old Miguel Martinez-Ramirez and his wife 23-year-old Maribel Martinez, were using the Facebook Market Place social media app to purchase a cellular phone. Migel was communicating online with the seller of a Samsung Galaxy cell phone. Migel negotiated a price to purchase the cell phone from the seller identified online as “Destiny Dawes”.

Detectives say the seller told Migel to meet at a residence located at 5003 Yellow Pine Street in St. Petersburg, to complete the transaction.

Migel drove with his wife Maribel and their newborn child to the prearranged location and parked outside the residence.

While the victims were waiting to meet the seller, a dark colored vehicle pulled up and two black males exited the vehicle armed with guns and hoodies covering over their faces.

Detectives say one suspect approached Miguel who was sitting in the driver seat and pointed a gun at him demanding money. The second suspect approached Maribel and pointed a gun at her while she was seated in the passenger seat holding her newborn child.

The suspects took personal property and approximately $500 in cash from the victims before fleeing the scene in their vehicle.

Detectives say no one was injured as a result of the robbery.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to obtain a partial tag number for the suspect’s vehicle.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified the suspects as 20-year-old Jermaine Brown and 18-year-old Robert Walker.

On September 4, 2018, Jermaine Brown turned himself in to the St. Petersburg Police Department for an unrelated Attempted Murder criminal charge. Detectives interviewed Brown and he admitted to the robbery allegations.

Brown was transported to the Pinellas County Jail and charged with one count of Robbery with a Deadly Weapon or Firearm.

On September 7, 2018, detectives located Robert Walker at Boca Ciega High School located at 924 58th Street South in Gulfport. Detectives interviewed Walker and he admitted to the robbery allegations.

Walker was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

Walker was charged with one count of Robbery with a Deadly Weapon or Firearm.

The investigation continues.
