Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are investigating a fatal vehicle vs pedestrian crash in Seminole.

When:
The crash occurred at about 1:23 a.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2019.

Where:
The crash occurred just north of Park Boulevard in front of 7589 Starkey Road in Seminole.

Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are investigating a fatal vehicle vs pedestrian crash in Seminole.

According to investigators, at about 1:23 a.m. on March 17, 2019, 21-year-old Nicholas Orio IV was driving his 2018 Mazda 3 northbound on Starkey Road, just north of Park Boulevard.

Investigators say, for unknown reasons, 41-year-old David Cunningham was crossing Starkey Road from east to west, when he was struck by Orio’s vehicle. Cunningham was not in a designated crosswalk.

Cunningham sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Orio did not sustain any injuries.

Impairment and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Next of kin has been notified.

The investigation continues.
