What:
Detectives assigned to the Arson/Auto Theft Unit and the Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating a fire at a mobile home that resulted in one death. The fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

When:
The fire occurred at about 6:33 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2020.

Where:
The fire occurred at the Bays End Manor Mobile Home Park, located at 3432 State Road 580, in Safety Harbor.

Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Arson/Auto Theft Unit and Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating a fire at a mobile home that resulted in one death.

According to detectives, a neighbor saw the mobile home fire and called 9-1-1 at about 6:33 p.m. Safety Harbor Fire Rescue and surrounding area fire rescue units arrived and extinguished the fire.

Once the fire was extinguished, the fire department made entry and located a subject inside a bathroom of the mobile home. The resident of lot # 306, 68-year-old Donna Spradley, was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital. Spradley succumb to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2020.

The origin of the fire is unknown at this time, but detectives say the power to the residence had been disconnected and the resident was known to use candles for lighting.

Detectives say the mobile home was fully engulfed and is a total loss. The damage appears contained to lot #306.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

Next of kin has been notified.

The investigation continues.
