Captain Mike Leiner has been with the sheriff’s office since 1994 and serves as the Commander of the Youth Education and Administrative Services Division within the Patrol Operations Bureau. The division consists of the Youth Education Section and the Youth Safety Section.  The Youth Education Section includes the School Resource Deputy Unit and the Youth Services Unit.  The Youth Services Unit is responsible for a myriad of youth programs, including Juvenile Diversion, Runaways, Cadet Post 900, Teen Driver Challenge (TDC), Targeted Response Against Distracted Driving (TRADD), Graffiti Response Program (GRP) and the Narcotics Overdose Prevention & Education (NOPE) program  The Youth Safety Section includes the School Crossing Guard Unit, School Guardian Unit, and Operation H.O.M.E. (Habitual Offender Monitoring and Enforcement). Captain Leiner also functions as the agency liaison for the 10 central district contract cities: Belleair Beach, Belleair Bluffs, Belleair Shore, Indian Rocks Beach, Madeira Beach, North Redington Beach, Redington Beach, Seminole, South Pasadena, and St. Pete Beach.
