Captain Paul Carey began his law enforcement career as a police officer with the Tarpon Springs Police Department in 1997, and joined the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in 2003. He currently serves as commander of the Child Protection Investigation Division. One of only six sheriff's offices in Florida that handles child protection, the division is responsible for investigating allegations of child abuse, abandonment, and neglect within Pinellas County and ensuring the safety of the children of Pinellas County.
